SUMMARY

1. 1·5 hr after intramuscular injection of adrenaline there is pronounced filling of adrenocortical vessels in the rabbit. Adrenaline tartrate is more effective than adrenaline hydrochloride, and a second injection hastens the onset of the vascular change.

2. The filling of the cortical capillaries is effected by constriction of the arteriae medullae, thus diverting blood into other cortical vessels. It is independent of the hypothalamus and hypophysis cerebri, and no change in adrenocortical vascularization is produced by ACTH.

3. Histamine also produces filling of adrenocortical vessels.
