SUMMARY

Adult female albino rats were exposed to constant light after either a sham operation or bilateral removal of the cervical sympathetic chain. The second operation was later shown to have resulted in the disappearance of all fluorescent fibres from the pineal gland. Despite denervation of the pineal, there was no delay in the onset of persistent vaginal cornification and no significant differences in ovarian weight, sexual receptivity, incidence of ovulation after mating or number of eggs ovulated between the two groups.
