Scope
Journal of Endocrinology is an official journal of the Society for Endocrinology and is endorsed by the Endocrine Society of Australia.
Journal of Endocrinology is a leading global journal that publishes original research articles, reviews and science guidelines. Its focus is on the fundamental mechanisms underpinning endocrine physiology and metabolism, including hormone secretion, hormone action and biological effects. The journal publishes basic and translational studies at the cellular, tissue and whole organism level.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, research relating to:
- classical endocrine glands
- endocrine function of adipose, muscle, liver, pancreas and other tissue
- the cardiovascular system
- diabetes, obesity and metabolism
- renal endocrinology
- reproductive biology
- neuroendocrinology
- bone
- immune system where there is positive or negative endocrine and or paracrine interaction with non-immune cells.
Alongside the core endocrinology topics, papers are encouraged which approach research questions from the perspective of:
- emerging models of disease
- organ specific focus (e.g. organ-on-a-chip) or systems wide biology/integrative physiology
- organisms including large and small mammals, and model organisms such as zebrafish
- human samples such as blood or tissue samples (used to unravel fundamental mechanisms)
- new technologies which will provide novel insights in endocrinology e.g. imaging, artificial intelligence/machine learning or omics techniques
- sex differences in endocrine function.
